About Us

Venture Cycles & Scooters is owned and operated by Rex Thorley and Jill Law. We are based a few minutes out of Matamata not far from Hobbiton or the famous Walton golf course in the lovely Walton area.  
Venture Scooters was established in 2018 & focused on importing a range of mobility products. Coming from owning a retail Cycle business it didn’t take long for bikes to appear in the lineup & the first order of thirty e bike conversion kits & batteries was placed. We had been doing conversions in our previous business & really liked the principle & versatility of these systems. They had also been very reliable with plenty of power.   
It didn’t take long before we sold those kits & the orders started getting bigger. Now we order hundreds of units at a time & have our own custom programming, wiring lengths, displays & range of special custom shaped batteries. You’ll see our products all over New Zealand so stop & have a chat to someone with one. In 2026 we decided to change our name to Venture Cycles & Scooters as the cycle side of the business had been the major part of the business for a few years. We will continue to sell scooters & service the ones we’ve sold over the years.

We have come from owning and running a successful cycle business where we sold & serviced mobility products for 18 years and firmly believe that simple is better, that offering good quality products at a great price with the best service and communication is the key to happy customers. Word of mouth has always been our best form of advertising & although we are an online business we are happy to talk & meet in person.

We are happy to demonstrate our products to you from our home based business or we can come to you if practical.

We deal directly with the factories so have control over specification of our products.There are no middle men & we have low overheads which means huge cost savings for our customers! We carry a full range of spare parts & offer a full workshop service for everything we sell

All the products we offer have passed our vigorous testing so you can be confident we only offer top quality goods backed up by a minimum 12 month warranty which we handle ourselves so you deal with the same people every step of the way.

Our workshop services include fitting our  E bike conversion kits, Electric bike repair, conventional bike repair, mobility scooter repair, Harley style scooter repair & E scooter repair. Other brands are welcome as Rex has had over 35 years of experience fixing pretty much anything that has two wheels, a motor or pedals.

Rex is also a fully qualified Body Geometry bike fitter so getting you comfortable on your bike or any other product is a priority & a skill few other people have.
